In a bid to make education more attractive to children of school age, Ekiti State government says it will continue to provide friendly environment for teaching and learning.

Parts of things to be considered for friendly environment include: construction of classrooms, renovation of dilapidated school buildings, entrepreneurship programmes and sporting activities to enable pupils to have all round skills.

The wife of Ekiti State Governor Erelu Bisi Fayemi announced this during the commissioning of renovated three blocks of class rooms at saint John’s primary school Aramoko Ekiti and six blocks of class Paul’s primary school Odo Ado, Ado Ekiti.
She appealed to teachers and pupils of the school to use the infrastructure properly by ensuring maintenance culture, so that generation yet unborn could reap from the government’s huge investments.

“This is the manifestation that the concerted efforts of the present administration to provide conducive teaching and learning environment in public schools in the state have continued to yield positive results, she explained.

Erelu Fayemi however noted that the impact of the present government proactive steps have started to yield the required multiplier effect on the education sector as three years down the line, School enrollment in public Primary Schools in the State has increased from 106, 271 in 2018 to 141,982 in 2021 while that of public Secondary schools increased from 84,146 in 2018 to 109,140 in 2021 and from 700 to 2,021 for Technical Education.

In a remark, the chairman Ekiti State universal Basic Education Board, Professor FEMI Akinwumi maintained that the proactive step of ensuring the payment of matching grants totaling N7.84 Billion to UBEC by the Fayemi led Administration prepared grounds for the ongoing massive rehabilitation of school infrastructure and construction of additional school buildings.

He therefore appealed to parents and guardians to send their children to public schools so that the pupils could benefit from the investment that was being put into this sector as well as encouraged the government to do more.

Professor Akinwumi gave assurance that the Board would continue to ensure the actualization of the vision and mission of the administration as well as accomplish the mandate of repositioning the basic education sector in the state.
