The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu says there are no plans for electronic voting in the 2023 general elections.

Professor Yakubu announced this in Lagos in a speech at the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, workshop on Broadcast Ecology and Politics in Nigeria.

The INEC Chairman attributed the development to the fact that the law on electronic voting has just been passed which left no time for the organization to test run the process.

Represented by Mr Segun Agbaje, Professor Yakubu gave the assurance that electronic voting would definitely be adopted for the 2027 elections.
