A retired civil servant and clergyman of the Anglican Communion, Venerable Isaac Adewoye is dead.

The Venerable Adewoye died on Monday, 1st, August 2022 at the age of 77.

The clergyman, who was a teacher of teachers retired from the employment of Osun State Government as school Principal in the year 2000.

A Graduate of the University of Nigeria Nzuka, UNN and Master’s Degree holder of the University of Ibadan, rose from a class teacher to become, Vice Principal and Principal in many schools, including IONIAN Schools, like Ibadan Grammar School and Gbangan Odeomun Grammar School.

Venerable Adewoye was ordained a Deacon of the Anglican Church at St Paul’s Church, Gbongan, Oke – Osun Archdeaconry, in 1991 and rose to become a Venerable before his retirement from the priesthood after attainment of retirement age of 70 in 2015.

The cleric is survived by his wife who is an Ibadan-based businesswoman, Mrs Cecilia Adewoye, and Children; Mrs Oluwafunke Faniran, who is the wife of Deputy Director News, Radio Nigeria, Ibadan, Mr Adewumi Faniran, Mr Oluwaseun Adewoye,  Mrs Oluwagbemi Gabriel and Mr Oluwagbamila Adewoye and Grandchildren. 

Meanwhile, Burial activities for Venerable Oyebanji Mobayoje Adewoye begins on Tuesday, 30th of August, 2022.

According to a statement by the family, a commendation service will hold at St. Peters Anglican Church, Apata, Ibadan at five o’clock in the evening.

On Wednesday, there would be a service of songs in honour of the late Cleric at his residence in Olorunda Aba at four o’clock in the evening, while a Christian Wake would hold on Thursday at St. Stephen Anglican Church, Alegongo, Akobo at five o’clock in the evening.

The funeral service for Baba Adewoye would take place at the Cathedral of St. David, Kudeti, Ibadan at ten O’clock in the morning.

Venerable Oyebanji Mobayoje Adewoye, popularly known as “Baba Christ”, died on the first of August, this year at the age of 77.
