The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has distributed relief materials to 2018 victims of windstorm in Kishi and Atisbo local government areas of Oke Ogun, Oyo State. 

The items, which included building materials, clothing’s, mattresses and toiletries were distributed to about 200 beneficiaries through the Oyo State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA. 

NEMA Southwest Zonal Director, Mr Slaku Bijimi, who explained that no life was lost in the September 11 2018 disaster, expressed confidence that the relief materials would cushion the effect on victims. 

While expressing NEMA’s readiness to give prompt responses to disaster, the Southwest NEMA boss said with the approval of the chairman of the governing council, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, a zonal office of the agency has been established in Ibadan. 

Earlier, Oyo State Deputy Governor, who is also the chairman, State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan said Governor Makinde had directed the immediate distribution of the materials irrespective of political affiliations. 

The Deputy Governor, who spoke through the Chairman, Oyo Assembly House Committee on Information, member representing Irepo/Olorunsogo State Constituency, Mr Qozim Olayanju, appealed to residents to take precautionary measures to avert flooding.
