The Oyo State Universal Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, has announced subeb.jobportal.oyostate.gov.ng as the official portal for the recruitment of 7000 teachers and 100 care givers in the state.
The chairman of SUBEB, Dr Nureni Adeniran announced this while speaking with journalists at the agency’s headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan.
Dr Adeniran said the portal would open at 6pm, from 25th June, 2024 and would be shut after three weeks.
While urging the Intending applicants to supply necessary Informations and upload all the necessary documents, Dr Adeniran explained that failure to comply with requirements might prevent applicants from being selected.
Dr Adeniran equally gave the public assurance that the recruitment exercise would be transparent, fair, credible and based on merit.
Dr Adeniran said successful applicants would later be invited for the computer based tests and oral interview advising applicants not to share email. He made it clear that two persons could not share same emails or NIN.
The SUBEB chairman while warning applicants strongly to be wary of scammers said they could direct further enquiries to phone number or email on the job portal.
Oyo State Government has rolled out measures to prevent cholera outbreak in public basic schools across the State.
The government has also advised Head Teachers to ensure that food handlers follow strict hygiene practices to prevent contamination.
The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Dr. Nureni Adeniran handed down the instruction in a statement in Ibadan.
He said, the state government, through the Board, is on top of its game to ensure public basic schools are taking steps to ensure the health and safety of its Pupils.
Dr. Adeniran equally urged parents, guardians, and school authorities to adhere to safety guidelines.
Dr. Adeniran said the Board would work with Education Secretaries, Head Teachers and other stakeholders to ensure strict compliance.
The importance of hand washing cannot be overemphasized, recommending that children carry hand sanitizers and frequently wash their hands with soap and water, especially before meals and after using the restroom.
Dr. Adeniran also recommended that Schools keep Oral Rehydration Salts, ORS, available in school clinics to manage dehydration cases promptly and to notify the State emergency hotline, 615, immediately in case of any health emergencies or suspected cholera cases.
The SUBEB chairman said, preventive measures including comprehensive health talks on cholera prevention among learners and staff, and safe drinking water practices will be conducted regularly.
The Oyo State House of Assembly has approved the appointment of former Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Mr AbdulRahman AbdulRaheem as the Chairman, Oyo State Education Trust Fund.

The confirmation of the duo followed the presentation of the reports of the House Committee on Education and that of Education, Tertiary Institutions, Science and Technology.
Report of the House Committee on Education, Tertiary Institutions, Science and Technology, read by the Committee Chairman, Mr. Oluwafemi Adebayo Oluwafowokanmi found Mr. AbdulRahman AbdulRaheem worthy of the appointment and hereby recommended him for confirmation by the House.
Likewise, the second report read by the House Committee Chairman on Education, Mr Johnson Ogundele described Dr. Nureni Adeniran as a seasoned administrator who performed excellently well during his tenure as the immediate past Chairman of SUBEB.
Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, OYOSUBEB has warned its staff to avoid being complicit in financial impropriety.
The Executive Chairman, OYOSUBEB, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran issued the warning to management and staff of the Board in Ibadan on Tuesday during its interfaith prayer held to usher in the New Year.
The Chairman charged the officials to adhere strictly to professional ethics enshrined in the civil service rules and be diligent in the discharge of their duties.
He said that the Board was often bombarded with petitions against some staff members over fraudulent practices.
Adeniran, therefore, said that the Board was ready to take drastic measures against any erring staff member.
Adeniran, identified the role of Headteachers, teachers, and the entire board as key in the Oyo State government’s efforts at repositioning the basic education sub-sector of the state.
Dr. Adeniran said that the gathering was aimed at thanking God for the new year, and laying a stronger foundation for the assignments ahead.
“I implore you to rededicate yourselves to your duties and ensure you do your best and ensure you do the needful at all times. Avoid being involved in any form of sharp practices, or fraudulence that could marr the name of the Board or the State”.
“I advise that you carry out due diligence and know your duties. By doing this, you save yourselves from trouble and make our job easier at OYOSUBEB. We pray that we all remain successful in our duties,” he said.
The Chairman, however, commended the staff members for maintaining professional ethics in their conduct and congratulated everyone for witnessing the new year.
He assured them of the Oyo State Government’s continued support and cooperation with workers.
Earlier, the Co-ordinating Director, OYOSUBEB, Mrs. Olaide Ladipo reiterated the need for workers and the management of the Board to be in synergy as new trends in basic education administration continue to unfold.
The Oyo State Government has refuted news by a blog about purported recruitment into the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, saying it is untrue.
The Director, Standard and Quality Assurance, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Mrs. Olaide Ladipo made the clarification in a statement signed on Thursday in Ibadan, the state’s capital.
Mrs. Ladipo said, “for the umpteenth time, the Oyo State Government wishes to inform the teeming public that Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board is not recruiting into any position in the board yet”.
She urged members of the public to disregard any information about recruitment, and also report fraudulent activities by any imposter using the name of the state government to the appropriate authorities.
“Please disregard any information circulating on social media or other platforms about recruitment by the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board. It is false”, she said.
“The Board is yet to recruit into vacant positions and will announce such through the appropriate quarters”, she said.
In another development, the board has inaugurated the School Based Management Committee, SBMC, at the Oyo State Model Smart School, Sogunro, Akinyele, Ibadan.
Mrs. Ladipo said it is aimed at improving governance and effective educational system at the basic level of education in the state.
The director urged the committee members to collaborate with the Oyo State government in achieving the desired goals.
She said the SBMC is a governing body consisting of 10 statutory members drawn from host community of the school.
According to her, SBMC was a resolution of the National Council of Education (NCE) in 1995, aimed at improving governance of basic and secondary schools, as well as provide sustainable platform for stakeholders’ participation and non-government support to the schools.
The final of the 2023 Governor Seyi Makinde Basic Education Schools Sports Competition, was held on Friday at the Olubadan Stadium, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
The Competition was organized by the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).
After zonal qualification across the eight educational zones, the third place football match was between L.A Primary School, Ilora, Oyo and Baptist Primary School, Ajegunle.
The team from Oyo defeated the Ajegunle team through penalties, after a goalless 90 minutes.
In the final, a resilient St. Brigid’s Primary School, Mokola, Ibadan lost to Anglican Primary School, Igbomara, Iseyin through penalties after the game also ended goalless.
The State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abdulwaheed Adelabu who took the kick off of the final match reiterated the commitment of the state Government to Sports development.
Stressing the resolve of government to boost participation of youths in grassroots sports, Adelabu lauded the efforts of organizers of the competition to actualize vision of the present administration.
The Commissioner, who spoke on behalf of the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, said youths are the mobile segment of nation’s population which must be activated through sports.
“Our young ones are the building blocks that must be treated through sports to acquire the requisite resilience to endure the pressure and strain of a competitive world”, he said.
He noted that the goal of the competition, was to develop skills of the pupils and fish out new talents among them to represent the State at National and International Competitions.
“Consequently, Oyo State Government through the State Universal Basic Education Board has been facilitating qualitative learning process with the provision of quality learning materials, prompt payment of teachers salaries and allowances as at when due, regular training and workshops that will improve their skills/performances”, he stressed.
He therefore urged the participating pupils in the competition to exhibit the intellectual abilities, skill resourcefulness expected, for the success of this competition.
The Executive Secretary, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Mr. Jacob Dairo said the maiden competition featured games and sporting activities amongst Public Primary Schools in the 33 Local Government Areas of Oyo State.
He said the positive roles sports play in advancing national unity and ensuring Basic Education pupils, are dissuaded from partaking in anti-social activities, can not be underestimated.

No fewer than one thousand, three hundred and ninety-five pupils, sat for the year 23/24 e-based Entrance Examination into Oyo State Model Smart School.
The pupils were tested in English language, Mathematics, and General knowledge at the Smart School, Sogunro, Akinyele Local Government Area, Ibadan.
The Executive Secretary, SUBEB, Jacob Dairo stated that the exercise was hitch-free in the center, adding that, seven hundred and ninety-six candidates were disqualified, as a result of double entry.
The Executive Secretary also said, the pupils did not write paper-based examinations but were given tablets for the examination, adding that, the turnout was impressive.
Stressing further, Mr. Dairo said, Paper paper-pencil testing was not allowed in the Model Smart school, because teaching is computer-based.
The Executive Secretary said the Oyo State Government has made plans to integrate technology-driven inclusivity in the Basic and Junior Secondary education at the model smart school.
“The Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration has placed a premium on the basic education sector. On behalf of stakeholders in the basic education sector, I thank the Governor who has earmarked a sizable budget to address infrastructural deficiency and an upgrade of our learning process, through the model smart school”, he noted.
The Executive Secretary urged parents/guardians to expose their children/wards to the use of technology, adding that, the new school intends to bring in different educational applications that would enhance innovation, creativity, and talents.
He also admonished parents in the State to acquaint their children with the use of computers as it would boost e-learning.
Dairo also thanked the leadership of Akinyele Local Government Area; the Oyo State security outfit, Operation Burst, for the support in securing the school.

The Oyo State Government has reiterated its policy thrust to develop sports at the primary level, saying its pupils will soon dominate sporting events at the National level.
The Coordinating Director, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Mr. Jacob Dairo made this known at the distribution of sporting equipment donated by Oyo State Government, in collaboration with Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to 82 primary Schools held at the Board’s headquarters, on Tuesday.
Mr. Dairo said that the Board was not only poised to restore the leading position by the State in primary sporting activities, but to take school sports to an enviable height in Nigeria.
He revealed that benefiting schools got sporting equipment such as Handball goalposts and net, skipping ropes, table-tennis bats and nets, handballs, Badminton rackets and other equipment distributed to schools in the 3 Senatorial districts in the State.
Dairo, who heads the Board’s Schools Services department, said the Board got delivery of sporting items courtesy of Governor Seyi Makinde and that the essence of the occasion was to officially flag-off the distribution of the items to the various beneficiaries in the State.
He said Oyo State Government intended to catch them young with the facilities, adding that the items will enable pupils to participate actively in sports.
The coordinating director said the Oyo State Government will organise a sporting competition among schools at local and Zonal levels, while the overall winner will represent the State in National competitions.
Mr. Dairo therefore charged the beneficiaries to take care of the items delivered to them, urging them to make proper use of the equipment for the purpose for which it is meant.
The Coordinating Director added that, Oyo State Governor had earlier approved the commencement of the Agricultural Education Training Programme for 73 primary schools.
He said the programme will train Education Secretaries, Head of Section, schools services of each Local Government, Head teachers, Agricultural studies teachers, and School Based Management Committee (SBMC) representatives from different Local Governments.
Mr. Dairo explained that Oyo State Government had approved funding of the agricultural training programme, in the 33 Local Governments in the State.
Dairo said the trainees in turn would train pupils on crop farming, snailery, and livestock farming.
Mr. Dairo added that a monitoring team will go round the schools to ensure that funds allocated for the training programme are properly utilized.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Oyo State Chapter, Comrade Raji Oladimeji applauded the initiatives put in place by the Oyo State Government for pupils.
The NUT Chairman said sporting activities, which are almost moribund in most schools, is due to the topography of land in most schools.
He therefore said the development will resuscitate the almost-moribund sporting activities in most public primary Schools.
Also, the Chairman, Association of Primary School Head teachers of Nigeria, AOPSHON, Oyo State branch, Comrade Adedeji Adekunle appealed to the trainees to pay full attention to the teachings.
Mr. Adekunle also applauded Governor Makinde for his unwavering support to wholesome basic education in the State, saying the agricultural training programme will put basic education in the State on a leading path, among its contemporaries.
The Zonal chairman, School based management committee, Egbeda Local Government, Deacon Adegbite Omoniyi said the agricultural training will encourage younger ones to participate in agriculture.
He said the SBMC and other stakeholders are committed to the new project, which will accelerate agricultural development in schools.
Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board reveals that it has pardoned some categories of workers who were found culpable of collecting illegal fees from pupils.
The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran said the pardon was to show compassion to fellow human beings, especially at a time when economic difficulties in the country were biting hard on families of persons either on suspension, without jobs or at the risk of losing jobs.
He, however, issued a stern warning that they must desist from collecting illegal fees or any other misdeeds which are against the ethics of civil service.
Speaking during a Board meeting in Ibadan, Adeniran said “The Board has pardoned the Head-teachers caught collecting illegal fees in some Basic Schools, despite the recommendations of the Disciplinary Panel”.
Dr. Adeniran equally said other officers, identified with various irregularities according to the extant rules in the State civil service, were forgiven.
“OYOSUBEB set up a disciplinary committee to review the fate of some workers with issues. The committee came up with recommendations. However in the spirit of the season, the Board has pardoned them”.
“For those that have committed offences, we are all human beings, and because the times are very hard, the Board has decided to pardon them. Insha’Allah, we have pardoned the erring officers with different categories of offences and asked them not to try such misdeeds henceforth.”
The meeting was attended by the Chairman, the Nigeria Union of Teachers, who doubles as a Board member, Mr. Raji Oladimeji.
Reacting, the NUT Chairman thanked the Executive Chairman of the Board.
He equally appreciated the Oyo State Government, particularly on the implementation of promotional benefits for the State workers.
The second term Unified Examination in all public primary schools across Oyo State has commenced, with adequate monitoring exercises put in place by the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB).
The Chairman, OYOSUBEB, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, while monitoring the exercise in Ibadan, said the motive behind the examination exercise was to ensure simultaneous participation of all schools in the examination process.
He appealed to school head teachers to ensure adherence to the timetable given to them by the Oyo State Government.
While inspecting schools in Ibadan North-East Local Government Area of the State, Adeniran noted that the level of preparedness of schools and students was quite impressive.
Adeniran, who applauded the smooth conduct of the exercise, added that efforts and arrangements put in place by the State Government in printing unified question papers for all schools in the State would ensure better performance of pupils.
He pointed out that the introduction of a unified examination timetable and questions were to give better credence to the exercise.
Dr. Adeniran also disclosed his satisfaction that both schools and pupils adhered to examination instructions.

It is cheery news for Teachers in Oyo State as the six-year waiting period has been cancelled by the Government.
Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Dr Nureni Adeniran made the disclosure on Thursday during a live interview programme on the state broadcasting station in Ibadan.
Dr Adeniran said the promotion waiting period for teachers on Grade level 13 and above was initially six years, but it had been adjusted to be at par with that of the mainstream civil service.
The SUBEB boss added that this was necessitated by the fact that the welfare of teachers and stakeholders in the education sector was paramount to the Governor, applauding the Governor for investment in laudable projects, which in turn was enhancing effective learning and quality academic activities.
Dr Adeniran stressed that the Board and other educational bodies in the State were committed to the gradual improvement and performance of learners, reiterating the commitment of the Government to sustaining the drive for quality education in the state.
In a related development, the State Government has commenced the distribution of exercise books to students of Public Secondary Schools and Technical Colleges for the 2021/2022 Academic session.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Rahman Abiodun Abdu-Raheem, made this known to newsmen.
Barrister Abdu-Raheem said the move was another forward leap in the history of education in the state, as it would assist parents in reducing the cost of education for their children.
Barrister Abdu-Raheem noted that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Engineer Makinde had invested a lot of fund in personnel and education materials from the OYO Education Trust Fund’s purse, so as to bring greater development to the sector.
Similarly, the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, has applauded the state government’s gesture toward its members.
Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Mr Raji Oladimeji Ismael, who gave the commendation, noted that the Governor Makinde-led administration had impacted the lives of Teachers in so many ways.
Mr. Raji added that Governor Makinde had surpassed past administrations, pointing at the recently approved leave grant for teachers, which would be released very soon.
The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran has collapsed his political structure to support the Oyo South Senatorial District candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Mogaji Olasunkanmi Tegbe, ahead of the 2023 General elections.
In an event held at his residence today, in Ibadan, Dr. Nureni Adeniran who hosted party stalwarts, including 27 coordinators from the nine local governments, ninety-nine ward coordinators within Oyo South Senatorial District and other supporters working for his Senatorial ambition, said the decision was taken in the common interest of the Party and the state.
Recall that Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, a PDP Chieftain, and a frontline aspirant for the Oyo South Senatorial seat, stepped down for a new party chieftain, Mogaji Olasunkanmi Tegbe.
Handing over his political structure to Mogaji Tegbe, Dr. Adeniran noted that his Co-ordinators from all nine local governments and ninety-nine ward within Oyo South Senatorial district will henceforth adopt Tegbe.
He added that this was to further spread the gospel of politics without bitterness, hinting that this step was a clear indication that the PDP would record victory in the coming elections.
“We have invited you today, to intimate you of the outcome of a series of meetings of all my local government and ward coordinators. We have resolved to back Mogaji Olasunkanmi Tegbe for the polls”, Adeniran said.
“For my political team and I, we are committed to continuation of good governance in Oyo State which is being offered by the PDP. There is no gain saying that the present leadership in Oyo State, led by Engr. Seyi Makinde is the best thing that has happened at this time. Therefore, I am very certain that the decision of the party leadership is good for our State and we would support our candidate”, he said.
“This is an organised effort to save our dear State from political quagmire and undesirable socio-economic predicament of our people”, he added.
Adeniran said he has therefore resolved to work in tandem with the Party’s wish, to field Mogaji Tegbe as the party’s candidate.
He therefore urged Mogaji Tegbe to ensure he fulfills his manifesto for the welfare and well-being of the good people of Oyo South and by extension Oyo State.
Replying, Mogaji Tegbe expressed his gratitude to Dr. Adeniran, adding that his gesture would help attract more endorsement from key stakeholders of the party.
An elated Mogaji Tegbe added that with this, his Senatorial ambition has received a big boost.
Chairman, Oyo state Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, has obtained the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) nomination form to represent Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
Adeniran confirmed to newsmen on Tuesday that he has obtained the PDP expression of interest and nomination forms.
Adeniran, one of the illustrious sons of Agbokojo, a community in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area, presently heads the State Universal Basic Education Board.
Dr. Nureni Adeniran is a trained Lawyer and an Educationist.
Born on June 20, 1961, into the Adeniran family in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He was the Executive Chairman, Ibadan South-West Local Government between 1999 and 2002; Member, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Board, Osogbo and a Commissioner, who served in two different Ministries including the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in Oyo State.

To holistically address the menace of Out of school children in the country, there is the need for stakeholders in the education sector to restrategize.
Chairman, Oyo state Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Dr Nureni Adeniran made this known in an interview with Radio Nigeria on the International day of education.
Dr Adeniran who expressed concern over the number of out of school children in Nigeria with a figure of 10.5 million children explained that, Oyo SUBEB was collaborating with the Federal ministry of education, Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC and the World Bank to reduce the figure.
He said about 477 informal learning centres had been established across selected local governments in Oyo state to absorb children in the informal settings, such as the Almajiris, street children and hawkers.
The SUBEB chairman noted that the number of students in schools in Oyo state had increased as a result of the free education policies of governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.
Dr Adeniran said the task of improving the education sector was enormous and could not be left to government alone.
He solicited the cooperation of philanthropists, old students association and the public at improving the standard in education.
The SUBEB boss said, since education should be made available for all children of school age, government was leveraging on the Better Education for Service Delivery, BESDA, initiative to encourage more children to enroll in schools.
The Executive Chairman, Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr. Israel Ajibola Famurewa, has restated the commitment of the Governor Adegboyega Oyetola-led administration to reposition the basic education system in the State.
He stated this when he led some officials of the board and the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, All Progressives Congress (APC) News Online, Dr. Tom Ohikere on an inspection tour of some school infrastructural projects undertaken by the board.
Mr. Famurewa said basic education system remained cardinal as a focal point of the administration’s education policy considering the importance of elementary education as the basic foundation of learning for all citizens.
The Osun SUBEB boss who was accompanied by the Board’s Commissioner, Hon. Moshood Adekunle Oluawo, Executive Secretary, Mr. Adeoye Bakare and other officials of the Board, added that the government had ensured a facelift of infrastructural and academic development.
According to him, several classrooms had been constructed, renovated and rehabilitated as the case may be to advance the quality of teaching and learning in all the public schools across the State.
Some of the schools visited were; Ataoja School of Science; Anthony Udofia Primary School both in Osogbo; Ijesa Muslim Grammar School, Ilesa; St. Philip’s Primary School, Ile-Ife;
St. Stephen’s Grammar School, Modakeke; Urban Day Grammar School Ile-Ife; Oogi Community Grammar School; Adejuwon Government middle School, Owode-Ede.
Speaking with newsmen after the inspection, Dr. Tom Ohikere lauded the huge investment of Governor Oyetola in the education sector, describing Osun as one of the leading light in the promotion of education in the country.
He also commended the Governor for Prioritizing education and giving the sector the prime place as the bedrock of socioeconomic development of the State, saying that ‘Osun has become a reference point in basic education system in Nigeria.’
Dr Ohikere said the inspection was going round the country to take stock of development particularly in the area of basic education sector, saying Osun State is the first State to be visited in the Southwest.
The Ogun State government has promised to reduce the number of out of school children through the provision of various incentives to encourage school attendance. Chairman of the state Universal Basic Education Board, Mr Femi Majekodunmi made this known while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Abeokuta. Mr Majekodunmi who identified non-challant attitude of some parents as factor affecting school enrollment said the country had one of the highest figure in the world. The SUBEB boss said the government had concluded plans to upgrade facilities in primary schools by ensuring regular payment of counterpart funding for upgrade of infrastructure through the federal government intervention programme.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state says his government would continue to ensure that funds are made available to build infrastructure and reposition the education sector to guarantee qualitative education in the state. He gave the assurance at the commissioning of a model school building at St Paul’s Anglican basic school, Okutapemo, Iseyin as part of activities to commemorate his two years in office Governor Makinde explained that his concern for qualitative education necessitated the raise in budgetory allocation for education to over 20%. While noting that within two years, his administration had executed about 600 projects in the education sector,the governor explained that the model schools were not spread across the state. Earlier, the chairman of the state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Dr. Nureni Adeniran said the edifice was one of the sixty model schools extended across thirty three local government areas. In her goodwill message, the state Coordinator of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Lydia Gbagi commended the governor for prompt payment of counterpart fund which contributed to actualization of the model school project.
Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board is to issue new guidelines to teachers in the state on required assistance for pupils with albinism in their schools.
The Board Secretary, Mr. Wasiu Kuye made this known in Abeokuta at a sensitisation workshop for teachers and educators on achieving an inclusive quality education for children with albinism in the state.
The Executive Chairman, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, Ogun, SUBEB, Doctor Femi Majekodunmi has identified training and retraining of officers in latest technology as essential towards enhancing teaching and learning.
Doctor Majekodunmi stated this while flagging off a 5-day training workshop on Effective School Evaluation for 100 Education Quality Assurance Officers at SUBEB Headquarter and across the 20 Local Government Education Authorities.
He explained that equipping the quality Assurance Officers with modern techniques was needed for effective and efficient implementation of basic education in State.
In a remark, the Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi who was represented by Acting Zonal Director, South West, Alhaji Alabi Asaju said the workshop was organized to improve the capacity of quality Assurance Officers at the SUBEB and the LGEA level for efficient and effective evaluation of schools to enhance learning outcomes.
Also, the Director Quality Assurance UBEC, Mallam Mansir Idris, represented by the UBEC coordinator for quality assurance training, Mr. Julius Adedoja, said the training was part of the efforts to equip Quality Assurance Officers in the State with relevant and necessary skills required to conduct effective evaluation in schools.
Earlier, the Board Secretary, Ogun SUBEB, Mr. Wasiu Kuye, had suggested that a day be set aside for practical to be carried out in 20 Public Primary schools in the State to test run the skills acquired during the training.
A two day capacity training on the Management practices in the Post COVID-19 period for Head-teachers of Public Primary Schools and Principals of Public Junior Secondary Schools across Ogun State has been held as part of efforts to further flatten the curve of the pandemic in the State.
Addressing the participants in Abeokuta, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu said the training was necessary to remind the teachers on the need to remain safe.
Professor Arigbabu also explained that the training was put together to broaden the knowledge of school Managers and Stakeholders in Education sector to take preventive measures towards reducing the spread of coronavirus in schools.
He announced that all public schools would continue to have their classes in phases to avoid overcrowding and help to contain the spread of the virus.
In a message to the occasion, Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker, who encouraged the participants to endeavor to get tested in bid to know their status said the pandemic was still spreading hence the need to abide by the safety guidelines.
Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo appreciated Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB for ensuring prompt and adequate monitoring school compliance on COVID-19 Protocols.
Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC representative and the Zonal Coordinator, South West Office, Abeokuta, Dr (Mrs.) Abidemi Oyedokun while commending Ogun SUBEB for organizing series of virtual trainings on effect of COVID-19 urged participants to ensure safety in schools.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Board Secretary, Ogun SUBEB, Mr. Wasiu Kuye said the present administration remain committed to qualitative, functional and technology-driven education for the people of Ogun State.
The new Executive Chairman of Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Professor Femi Akinwumi has assumed duty with a call on staff of the Board to cooperate with him in the task of improving the quality of education in public primary schools in the state.
Professor Akinwumi made the call in Ado Ekiti during his inaugural meeting with members of staff of the Board.
He told them that one of the mandates given to him by Governor Kayode Fayemi was to transform public primary schools into centers of excellence that can compete favorably with the best schools in the country.
Professor Akinwumi stated that the Board, under his watch, would adopt a holistic approach towards improving the quality of public schools in the state.
The new SUBEB Chairman stressed that human capital and infrastructural development as well as vigorous monitoring of schools would be strategically pursued in order to achieve the desired goals.
Professor Akinwumi emphasized the need for the staff to rededicate themselves to their duties and shun indolence, lateness as well as other vices that could affect their productivity.
The Permanent Secretary of the Board, Mr Olusesan Fabamishe had earlier conducted the new chairman round offices in the SUBEB premises where he pledged the commitment of staff to the actualization of his vision and mission for the board.
Professor Akinwumi, an alumnus of the University of Ibadan was until his appointment a Professor of Educational Management in the nation’s premier University.
The government of
Oyo State has approved the release of the sum of 526 million naira as running
costs for its 2,500 primary schools and about 640 secondary schools.
A statement by the
Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa confirms that
the sum of 400 million naira has been advanced to the secondary schools, while
the primary schools got the sum of 126 million naira.
The amount is to
cover the running grants of the schools for the first term of the 2019/2020
academic session.
According to the
state statement, principals of secondary schools as well as heads of primary
schools across the state have been mandated to open accounts to receive the
running grants.
There are 640
secondary schools spread across the state, which have already started
benefitting from the 1,000 naira per child per term budget for the schools.
The statement also
indicates that the 126 million naira approved for the primary schools has been
released to the heads of the various schools.
The statement notes
that Ministry of Education is managing the disbursements to secondary schools, while
the State Universal Basic Education Commission, SUBEB, is handling the
disbursement to primary schools.
The statement urges all stakeholders in the school system to judiciously apply the funds as the government will demand accountability on every kobo released to the schools.
All
is now set for the conduct of the written examination for the recruitment of
teachers into the public primary schools in Ekiti State.
The
qualifying examination comes up tomorrow (Saturday September 21) in
designated centres in Ado Ekiti, Ikere, Ido, Ode, Ikole, and Ijero Ekiti.
A

the teaching job to visit https://ekitistate.gov.ng/applicantseat
to know their centres.
The
statement implores applicants to bring along printed copies of their
application forms and copies of their examination registration slips while
coming for the examination scheduled to commence at ten O’ clock in the
morning.
It
however warns that candidates would not be allowed to bring in their telephones
and other electronic devices into the examination halls.
Radio
Nigeria correspondent, report that eleven thousand, six hundred
candidates out of about twenty thousand applicants who initially
applied for the teaching jobs are expected to sit for the qualifying
examination.
One thousand, one hundred of the applicants will be recruited at the end of the exercise.
